Past Exhibition
“COOL JAPAN Contemporary Japanese Calligraphy Exhibition” was presented at University Museum and Art Gallery The University of Hong Kong in February 2011 and at Qinghua University Museum in September 2012. In both venues the exhibition was well received because of its free spirit and height of sensitivity. Calligraphy was originally born in China and it was transformed as free contemporary art in Japan by those artists.
The group of artists in this exhibition is especially unique. Unlike other calligraphy groups in bigger city such as Tokyo, they live in Toyama and Ishikawa prefecture and work on calligraphy believing in their own sense and style. The artists have concentrated on purely growing original sense without being influenced by art trend and its information.
By exhibiting these works in France, the country of art, we wish that calligraphy would be reviewed in the world and cultural exchange between two countries would be deepened.
